What is BOPP Thermal Lamination Film?

BOPP Thermal Laminating Film is primarily composed of BOPP + EVA layers. We use an extrusion coating process to combine these two layers, resulting in a film where one side exhibits BOPP film properties and the other side becomes a heat-sensitive surface used for dry lamination.

This product is available in two classifications: glossy/shine/transparent and matte/opaque, both with thickness ranging from 14micron to 32micron. Available widths range from 180mm to 1880mm, with lengths from 150m (1 inch core, 25mm) to 4000m (3 inch core, 76mm).

Applications of BOPP Thermal Laminating Film

BOPP Thermal Laminating Film is used for various applications including:

  • Textbook covers
  • Brochures and leaflets
  • Sweet boxes and cosmetics packaging
  • Shopping bags
  • Diaries and notebooks

How to Use BOPP Thermal Lamination Film

A laminating machine (typically called a hot laminator) is required to use BOPP Thermal Laminating Film by melting the EVA layer onto substrates such as paper. During the process, the film passes over a heated roller and, under appropriate pressure, adheres to the paper surface.

This process is user-friendly and can be performed in home settings for small applications. It is commonly referred to as heat lamination, dry lamination, or hot lamination.

Operation Guidance for Laminating Process
  1. Adjust roller pressure and temperature according to different types of paper and ink
  2. When using the film for the first time or changing sizes, conduct small trial volumes before starting mass lamination
  3. Normal process temperature range: 90°C-105°C (203°F - 221°F)
  4. Ensure ink is completely dry before laminating to prevent delamination from moisture or powder content
  5. Store materials in low-temperature, dry environments
Factors affecting lamination quality:
• Metal ink usage
• Ink containing excessive wax, dried oil, adhesive, or silicon additives
• Excessively thick ink application
• Incompletely dried ink
• Highly humid paper sheets
• Excessive powder on surface
