BOPP thermal laminating film is a post-press lamination material for packaging. We adopt laminating machines to hot melt the EVA adhesion on prints, allowing the BOPP base film to provide protection from pressure, cracks, and other damage, thereby extending the shelf life of prints. We use different thickness compositions of BOPP laminating film rolls to protect various types of paper prints.
BOPP Thermal Laminating Film is primarily made of BOPP + EVA. We use an extrusion coating process to combine these two layers. In the final film, one side has the properties of BOPP film, while the other side becomes a heat-sensitive surface used for dry lamination.
This product has two classifications: glossy/shine/transparent and matte/opaque, both available in thicknesses from 14micron to 32micron. Width options range from 180mm to 1880mm, and lengths from 150m (1 inch core, 25mm) to 4000m (3 inch core, 76mm).
BOPP Thermal Laminating Film is commonly used for:
- Textbook covers
- Brochures
- Leaflets
- Sweet boxes
- Cosmetics packaging
- Shopping bags
- Diaries
A laminating machine (typically called a hot laminator) is required to use BOPP Thermal Laminating Film by melting the EVA into substrates such as paper. During the process, the film passes over a heated roller and, under reasonable pressure, adheres to the paper. This process is straightforward and can be performed at home for small applications. It is also referred to as heat lamination, dry lamination, or hot lamination.
- Adjust roller pressure and temperature according to different types of paper and ink.
- When using the film for the first time or changing the usual size, conduct a small trial before starting massive lamination.
- Normal process temperature is 90°C-105°C (203°F - 221°F). Roller pressure and temperature vary depending on paper type, ink, and machine specifications.
- Ensure the ink is completely dry before laminating. Delamination may occur if the paper contains excessive moisture or powder.
- Store materials in a low-temperature, dry environment.
- The following situations may affect final film quality during lamination:
- Using metal ink
- Ink containing excessive wax, dried oil, adhesive, silicon additive, etc.
- Excessively thick ink application
- Ink not completely dried
- Overly humid paper sheets
- Excessive powder on the surface
