Thermal lamination film is produced by multi extrusion coating lines. It consists of two layers: a plastic film base (primarily BOPP or PET film) and an adhesive glue layer (EVA). Thermal Lamination Film is also referred to as dry, hot, or heat lamination film.
Printing houses commonly use BOPP Thermal Lamination Film rolls for commercial and educational printing applications. It can also be used for graphic arts large format projects. The transparent film lamination, available in bright/shine/glossy or matte/dull finishes, is heated to provide protection on paper covers. Sometimes referred to as paper lamination film, it uses heated EVA adhesive to bond with paper substrates.
Specific applications include:
- Textbook covers
- Brochures
- Leaflets
- Sweet boxes and diaries
- Shopping bags
- Cosmetics boxes
The lamination process involves joining two or more layers to protect printed materials. A hot laminator (thermal/heat/dry lamination roller machine) is required to use Thermal Lamination Film by melting its EVA adhesive onto paper surfaces. During the process, the film passes over a heated roller and, under appropriate pressure, adheres to the paper. This straightforward process can even be performed at home for small-scale applications. The method is also known as heat lamination, dry lamination, or hot lamination.
