German new packaging law adopted in May last year, effective in early 2019, aims to improve existing packaging methods through centralized recycling and prevention of packaging waste.

As part of the bill, the recycling target for different packaging materials will increase, and by 2022, it will increase from the current 36% to 63%. The bill will also encourage reusable packaging with a goal of 70% reusable beverage packaging.

Companies that sell goods in the German market will face up to a fine of 50,000 euros and a sales ban if they fail to comply with Germany's latest packaging laws.

According to consulting firm Lorax Compliance, companies that produce more than 80,000 kilograms of glass, 50,000 kilograms of paper and cardboard, and 30,000 kilograms of aluminum, plastics and compounds sold in Germany should submit a Declaration of Conformity. Book (DOC). Failure to do so may result in a fine of 50,000 Euros.
